// Cobalt Gauge is an offline unit converter covering length, weight, temperature, volume, area and kitchen measures, with a live gauge dial and a pantry ingredient table for cup-to-gram baking conversions.
[01] Information collected // inputs
None. Cobalt Gauge has no account, no sign-in and no server behind it. The only things you ever type into the app are the numbers you want converted and, if you choose to set one, a display name and avatar glyph for the profile tab. Both stay on your device; neither is sent anywhere, and the app never asks for your email address, phone number, contacts or location.
[02] Local storage // on-device
Kept in OS-level local storage on your device, never uploaded:
- Conversion history — the value you entered, the units on each side and the result, kept in an on-device SQLite database and capped at the 300 most recent entries.
- Pinned unit pairs — the shortcuts you save so a pair you use often is one tap away.
- Streak counters and badge unlocks — derived from how often you convert; used only to fill the in-app profile.
- Display name and avatar glyph — optional, typed by you, shown only inside the app on this device.
- Preferences — decimal precision, digit grouping, full-unit-name labels, reduced motion and your default category.
- A first-launch flag, so the welcome slides are not shown again.
Uninstalling the app deletes every byte.
[03] Permissions // runtime
None. The release build of Cobalt Gauge declares no Android runtime permissions at all — not even INTERNET — and the iOS build declares no usage-description keys, because there is no camera, microphone, location, contacts or photo access anywhere in the app. If your device ever prompts you for a permission on behalf of Cobalt Gauge, something is wrong; please report it.
[04] Network // egress
The app is fully offline. It contains no HTTP client, no socket code and no third-party network SDK, so it makes no requests of any kind — not at launch, not while converting, and not in the background. Every unit factor and ingredient weight is compiled into the app itself, which is why it works in airplane mode and why no usage data can leave your phone.
[05] Third parties // vendors
No analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting SDK is integrated. Cobalt Gauge is built with Flutter and uses a small set of open-source packages that run entirely on-device: sqflite and path for the local database, shared_preferences for settings, flutter_riverpod for state management, fl_chart to draw the profile charts and collection for list helpers. None of them contact a server on the app’s behalf.
[06] Children // coppa/gdpr-k
Cobalt Gauge is a general-purpose calculator suitable for all ages, including children. Because it collects nothing, transmits nothing and shows no advertising, there is no personal information that could knowingly or unknowingly be gathered from a child under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). No age gate is therefore required.
[07] Your rights // you
Everything the app stores lives on your device, so you stay in control of it. Individual history entries can be deleted from the History tab, and a pinned pair can be unpinned from the converter. To remove everything at once, use Android Settings → Apps → Cobalt Gauge → Storage → Clear storage, or simply uninstall the app — that deletes the local database and all saved preferences permanently. There is no copy anywhere else for us to return, correct or erase, and no backup we can restore.
